Since the electronic and brand revolution, standards have become much more accessible, dynamic, and easy to produce. From a website to a CD to a fact sheet, standards have evolved into communications documents that build brand awareness and make it easy to consistently present and promote a company. Now even the smallest company can provide streamlined standards and electronic templates.

Choosing a format should be based on a clear understanding of the audience. The best companies build awareness of their guidelines internally with employees and externally with creative firms. Building a brand, for many companies, is progressively viewed as the responsibility of each and every employee.
